Civic

Yesterday I was too lazy arsed to go into the office to share the pic of Wythenshawe I took after meeting my buddies for lunch. Now what I've done is build it up out of all scale into some big deal when really it's just a pic from on top of the car park.

See! Wasn't worth the build up. I should just have not mentioned it in the first place.

So on today's ride I thought I'd share a little idea of the area surrounding into the route I take.

It's about 18.5 miles, kind of triangular in shape, and I usually stop at two spots and drink 500ml of water at each.

The first stop is a little after the half way point. I've come out of Knutsford and am heading towards Macclesfield. I've just passed Fired Earth (which I can't help but keep calling Fred Earth), and there is a lay-by next to a Public Weighbridge and opposite a couple of fields which look to be used for growing turf.

Here I am looking cheery, with the camera facing the way to Knustford and the entrance to the weighbridge next to my helmet.

I then carry on along the road through Chelford, where on a Sunday morning they have a Car Boot sale. After the roundabout (left to Alderly Edge, right to Goostrey) there is a nice stretch of road with some mature trees lining it.

This pretty much the point where they had some roadworks set up a few months ago and an old bloke in a small Merc swerved across the road in front of me (heading in my direction), mounting the pavement on my side before heading off back to his side and continuing his journey. I think he was not really capable of still being on the road. You always think, "Old bugger will kill someone one day" and on that day it was nearly me.

The lights you can see in the distance mark the point where I turn left and start the journey home. Not long after that junction I find myself at the south end of the Alderly Edge by-pass and have a second stop.

Not much to see here I'm afraid.

On the left of the frame you can see the pavement/cycle path at the side of the road. It's a lovely piece of tarmac, and more often than not a slight wind to the north. This part of the route is my favourite as it is nice, smooth, off road, and means I'm not far from the end.

I'll take a few more shots of spots along the route next time the weather/light is kinder. it was a bit dull and overcast today.

Fantastic news from the Sale Posse, as today Caitlin passed her driving test at the first attempt. Really proud of her.
