Over the last few years our music has been provided by a rather aged iPod touch (which I just checked and seems to be running iOS 1.1.5) through a set of JBL Creature speakers.
This has been fine, other than it being such a pain to update the music on the iPod. The library which feeds it has been migrated from one computer to another and is now such a faff that what's on there pretty much stays there.
Also, there are a lot of cables associated with the speakers which limits the locations for them.
Realising this was not the way to continue, I suggested that we invest in a standalone cable-free option and so splurged some money on a Sonos Play:1.....wow.
I picked that one because it's WiFi rather than Bluetooth, and some how IP seems a bit more industrial. A bit more robust. Whether that's nonsense or not is now irrelevant as the device is bought and I ain't taking it back. It's very good, as it happens, so I wouldn't want to.
We are streaming from Spotify ("Searching for the Heart of Saturday Night" by Tom Waits has just reached the top of the queue), loving the ease of choosing music, the selection, and the quality of the speaker.
I think I might lobby for the purchase of a sound bar for the TV based on the success of this purchase.

My dad and his drill came round and helped me put up these boxes on the kitchen wall. When I say helped me, I mean "put up while I watched". Quite nice, I think. Thank you father.

It's starting to feel a bit colder, don't you think? About time too.
Tomasz Schafernaker is 37 today. Happy Birthday. It is going to be -5 degrees in Gdansk tonight, which is where Tomasz was born.

Griff, I started with a play 1. Then purchased a play 3. Then a ''connect' to hook sonos into the main hifi. Of course I then started thinking about the playbar and sub. But thems expensive. So I just keep the tv plugged into my amp. Sonos is addictive.
